PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman is in jail, following a police chase Monday.

A state trooper attempted to pull over a car with no license plate driven by Vanessa Mouser, 23, of Freeburn, just after 7 p.m., Monday. Instead, the car fled onto Route 194 at speeds over 75 miles an hour. The chase continued for about 25 miles, with the car weaving between lanes and passing cars on a blind curve.

The pursuit finally ended on a mine road near Phelps, where Mouser was found lying in a wooded area near the car. She reportedly told the officer she fled because she was afraid she would be taken to jail, because she had been drinking and using meth.

She was also found in possession of two plastic bags containing six grams of meth.

Mouser was arrested and taken to jail on charges of fleeing police, DUI and meth possession.
