PHELPS, Ky. — A Pike County woman was arrested Saturday morning after leading police on a brief chase in a truck that had been reported stolen in West Virginia.

Kentucky State Police received a report to be on the lookout for a black Chevy Silverado that had been reported stolen from outside the Williamson Courthouse. About an hour later, a state trooper patrolling in Phelps spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but the truck sped up instead.
That resulted in a two-mile chase at speeds exceeding 80 mph along a two-lane road, before the driver pulled over at a gas station.
When the officer spoke to the driver, identified as Rachel Burton, 43, of Stone, she reportedly told him she had taken the truck for another state trooper who she thought was in trouble. She then failed a field sobriety check.
Burton was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing police, DUI and numerous traffic violations.
