PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident while driving under the influence.

Officers were investigating what was believed to be a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon involving Whitney Bailey, 44, of Pikeville. Police say Bailey was driving along Hambley Boulevard in Pikeville, when her car dropped over an embankment wall onto Hibbard Street, then skidded along the wall for a short distance before coming to rest against a utility pole.

While police were on the scene of that crash, a man came by to report that Bailey had crashed into his car on Hambley Boulevard and left without stopping prior to the crash on Hibbard Street.

Inside Bailey’s car and purse, police found nearly 50 pills of various types, as well as four cans of air duster, which can be used as an inhalant. Two of the cans were empty.

Bailey was charged with DUI, drug possession and leaving the scene of an accident.
