PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Pikeville Police fanned out across Pike County on Friday, rounding up drug suspects named in sealed indictments.
Police dubbed the operation, “Initiis Novis,” Latin for “new beginnings,” and it targeted people suspected of distributing meth and fentanyl.
Police say they were successful in serving 11 warrants for sealed indictments, as well as four unrelated warrants on people they encountered during the sweep. They also seized five guns, drug paraphernalia, a stolen motorcycle, a stolen camper and a stolen U-Haul trailer.
Police did not release names of the suspects and court records remain sealed over the weekend. However, jail records show seven people arrested on drug trafficking charges by Pikeville Police on Friday. They include:
- Anthony Barron, 61, of Jenkins, one count of meth trafficking.
- Darren Bartley, 42, of Ratliffs Creek, two counts of meth trafficking, one count of persistent felony offender.
- Bridget Bolden, 50, of Powells Creek, one count of meth trafficking.
- Henry Cleaver, 48, of Elkhorn City, three counts of fentanyl trafficking, two counts of meth trafficking, four counts of persistent felony offender.
- Joseph Hopkins, 41, of Greasy Creek, one count of meth trafficking.
- Layna Rose, 45, of Elkhorn City, one count of meth trafficking.
- Joey Spears, 46, of Ratliffs Creek, one count of meth trafficking.
- Brian Young, 47, of Ratliffs Creek, one count of meth trafficking.
Police say the investigation is continuing and could lead to more arrests later.
