PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Pikeville Medical Center has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, or CAP, following a recent on-site inspection.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this prestigious accreditation,” PMC’s Pathologist Medical Director Dr. Harty Ashby said. “PMC’s dedicated team in the laboratory strives every day to provide quality healthcare to patients in the area.”

The CAP laboratory accreditation program began in the 1960s and is equal to or more stringent than the federal government’s own standards.

“We are extremely proud of PMC’s Laboratory and Dr. Ashby,” PMC Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kansas Justice said. “Their hard work and dedication to the patients of this region are second to none.”

PMC is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited lab facilities worldwide.
