PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A simple seat belt violation ended up sending a Pike County couple to jail on drug trafficking charges.

Alycea Kendrick, 23, was pulled over on U.S. 23 in Pikeville, after an officer spotted her not wearing a seat belt. After getting her permission to search the car, the officer found several packages and containers of meth, heroin, pills and marijuana, along with scales, paraphernalia and a gun.

Both Kendrick and her passenger, Tony Coleman, 40, denied the drugs were theirs and said they didn’t know how they got there.

Both were arrested and charged with several counts of drug trafficking and possession.
