Police: Man takes security cameras during theft

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public about a theft case in which a man stole not only a car part, but also security cameras guarding the property.
A Facebook post by the sheriff’s office is asking the community to help identify a man wearing a dark blue jacket with safety striping and blue jeans who allegedly used an electric saw to cut the catalytic converter off a vehicle in the McDowell community on Thursday, Dec. 26. The post says the person also stole two surveillance cameras that were posted on the sides of the residence where the theft occurred.
The person sought by police was wearing a mask at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office dispatch center at (606) 886-6171, or the office’s anonymous tip line at (606) 949-2020.
