APPALACHIA, Va. — Deputies in Wise County are investigating an armed robbery of the Valero gas station that occurred late Saturday night.

As the store was preparing to close shortly before midnight, a man wearing a face mask and hooded sweatshirt walked in with a handgun. He demanded money from the clerk and then fled the scene with a small, dark-colored car.
