Reports say Dueling Barrels could remain closed, multiple employees laid off

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Numerous reports are saying that Alltech’s Dueling Barrels Brewery & Distillery located in Pikeville, Kentucky currently remains closed and multiple employees have been laid off.

After their temporary closure on March 13 due to COVID-19 concerns, the brewery and distillery has yet to reopen and sources are saying that they are unsure if they ever will.

Pete Weiss, the Marketing Manager for Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. states:

“We are not closing Dueling Barrels. Our first priority remains the health and safety of visitors, team members and the communities in which we live and work. In light of health risks associated with COVID-19, and the enclosed nature of our visitors’ center, we have suspended public tours of Dueling Barrels. Though we are unable to host tours at this time, we are fully focused on our brewery and distillery operations. We remain committed to Eastern Kentucky, and our stills continue to produce the craft beer and spirits that celebrate the region. We are hopeful that we will be welcoming guests back to Dueling Barrels later this year.”

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
