BELFRY, Ky. — A registered sex offender living in Pike County has been arrested after he reportedly went to a local school.

James Paul Dotson, 49, of Belfry, was arrested Thursday morning after Belfry Elementary reported that he showed up on school grounds. Under the terms of his sex offender status, he is not allowed to be on school property.

Dotson was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan. The victim was 15 years old at the time.

Dotson is charged with failure to comply with sex offender school restrictions, which is a misdemeanor. He is being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
