SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — Police are investigating after a Magoffin County woman was killed in a crash over the weekend.
Kentucky State Police received a call shortly before 6:30 Sunday, reporting the discovery of a wrecked car on Old Burning Fork Road.
At the scene, first responders discovered the body Samantha Lykins, 29, of Salyersville, who was pronounced dead by the Magoffin County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office tells Mountain Top News that Lykins had been missing for some time before the crash was discovered.
Police believe Lykins was driving along Old Burning Fork Road when her car left the roadway, traveled over an embankment, and struck a tree.
In addition to KSP, Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department, Magoffin County Rescue Squad and Lifeguard Ambulance Service all responded to the crash.
