Letcher County, KY — Yet another Social Security scam is being reported in the region, this time in Letcher County. According to the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office, several reports have been received regarding a person calling people stating that your social security number has been compromised or your social security number has been used to commit a crime and a warrant has been issued for your arrest. In both scams, the caller says these issues can be taken care of if you are willing to pay money. These, of course, are scams. If you have received one of these calls, you can report it to the Social Security Administration’s Fraud Hotline at 1-800-269-0271.
