Spring Horse Trail Ride

Pike County, Ky: Now that we have consistent warmer weather, the Pike County Trails System is hoping residents and surrounding residents utilize the trail systems more in the county. Saturday, the Pike County Trails System is hosting its Spring Horse Trail Ride in Lick Creek near Elkhorn City. It will start at the Lick Creek Recreational Area at 10 o’clock that morning. Lunch will be provided by the Pike County Fiscal Court. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will be provided. Pike County has horse trails, motorized trails and river trails. Organizer Jim Bevins hopes this weekend is a jump start on the public utilizing what the county has to offer.

“Trails as a whole and recreational tourism as a whole has gained a lot of interest. Folks have looked at some of our neighboring counties and neighboring states and seen what they have been able to do with that, and they recognize that as a viable economic development tool. It creates jobs, helps create land value, and creates demand. So its just really good to help diversify the economy and grow jobs.”
