State reports near-record day for COVID cases, deaths

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky the state reported its fourth-highest day of new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, as well as the third-highest day of deaths.

More than 4,500 new cases were reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to more than 313,000.

Forty-seven more Kentuckians have died, raising the death toll to 2,991.

More than 1,700 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, including 403 in intensive care and 225 on ventilators.

The state’s positivity rate is now 12.29 percent.
