Three indicted on carjacking charges

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Knott County man already facing a federal weapons charge has now been indicted on carjacking charges, along with two others.

Christopher Adam Cole, 33, of Littcarr, was charged with felon in possession of a handgun in an indictment handed down back in November. But in a superseding indictment handed down Thursday, Cole, along with Brandi Hurt and Angela “Granny” Vanover were charged with stealing cars from their owners under the threat of violence.

Cole faces two charges of carjacking, in incidents that took place in August and September in Hazard. Hurt and Vanover face one count each.

Cole is also charged with two counts of using a gun in a violent crime.\

If convicted, the carjacking charge carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

If convicted of using a gun in the crime, Cole faces at least 14 more years on top of any other sentence, and could be sentenced to life in prison.
