Tuesday morning, just before 10 am, a tractor trailer hauling scrap metal overturned on US 23, slowing southbound traffic for several hours near the Buckley’s Creek intersection.  According to officials with the Pikeville Police Department, the driver of the truck was turning left from Buckley’s Creek onto US 23 when the load apparently shifted, causing the trailer to overturn.  Thankfully, no other vehicles were struck by the trailer or the load it was carrying.  Pikeville Police, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Highway District 12 officials responded to and worked the scene for several hours while the trailer and the metal it was carrying were removed.
