PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man pulled over for driving recklessly ended up being taken to jail for trafficking in pills.

A state trooper spotted a vehicle driven by Thomas Kiser, 52, of Pikeville, slip off of the roadway while traveling on U.S. 23 last Friday morning, so he pulled it over. When the car came to a stop, the trooper said Kiser tossed a cigarette out of his window, so he made him pick it up and cited him for littering.

The officer then asked him why he was driving poorly, and Kiser explained that he was counting his money when he slipped off the road. He was then given a field sobriety test, which indicated he could be impaired.

The trooper also found Kiser with more than $1,200 in cash, as well as a bag containing a large amount of Neurontin in the center console. He was arrested and charged with DUI, trafficking in legend drugs and other charges.
