Two killed in Pike crash

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two people were killed in a chain-reaction crash in Pikeville over the weekend.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 23 at Foxcroft Lane. Police say a Jeep Cherokee traveling north crossed into the southbound lanes, where it struck a Chevy Equinox. After the initial crash, a Ford Escape then ran into the Equinox.

A passenger in the Cherokee — Rebecca Miller, 43, of Hopkins Fork in Pikeville — and the driver of the Equinox — Melissa Bowling, 52, of Knott County — died at the hospital.

Several other people were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Pikeville Police continues to investigate the incident.
