VOLLEYBALL: Lady Tigers sweep Martin County behind Kinner’s 21 kills & Area Scores

The Paintsville Lady Tigers added to their win column Tuesday night, sweeping the Martin County Lady Cardinals 3-0.

Paintsville controlled the match from start to finish, taking sets of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-13.

Junior standout Kylie Kinner, who recently surpassed 2,000 career kills, led the way with 21 kills and two aces. Mallory May followed with a strong effort of her own, tallying eight kills and five aces. On the season, Kinner now sits at 555 kills while May has 227.

Stats for individual Martin County players were not available at press time.

The win moves Paintsville to 17-9 on the season, while Martin County falls to 4-10.

Paintsville will return to action Thursday, Oct. 2, at home against Magoffin County in a 6 p.m. start. Martin County won’t hit the court again until Monday, Oct. 6, when they host June Buchanan at 6 p.m.

In other area volleyball action Tuesday night, Phelps edged Mingo Central 3-2, Knott Central topped Johnson Central 3-1, and Pikeville swept Pike Central 3-0.
