CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia residents are getting closer to being able to obtain medical marijuana.
Last week, the state announced locations of marijuana dispensaries, including three in Logan County. There are no dispensaries permitted for Mingo County at this time.
Beginning at noon on Wednesday, residents can begin registering for patient cards to receive medical marijuana. To do so, they will need to register online at medcanwv.org.
Registration does not mean residents can begin receiving medical marijuana immediately, as dispensaries are still working to open.
The patient cards are only available to West Virginia residents, can only be used in West Virginia, and do not offer legal protection for marijuana obtained outside the medical marijuana system.
