PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – Prestonsburg High School announced Friday that Rick Ward has been named the school’s new girls basketball coach.
The school said in a Facebook post that Ward is the perfect choice to lead the Lady Blackcats forward.
“Coach Ward has been a dedicated member of the Prestonsburg basketball program for the past nine years, playing a key role in helping build the foundation and success the team enjoys today. His commitment to the student-athletes, the school, and the community makes him the perfect choice to lead the program forward.”
Prestonsburg High School Principal Brandon Kidd said Ward has already been “vital” to the program for years.
“I’m thrilled to announce Coach Rick Ward as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach at Prestonsburg High School,” said Kidd, who previously served as head coach and coached alongside Ward. “Coach Ward has been a vital part of our program for the past nine years and has played a major role in building it into what it is today. There is truly no one more deserving to lead these young ladies and continue the tradition of excellence. On behalf of myself and all of Blackcat Nation, congratulations Coach Ward. This opportunity is well earned.”
