TOMAHAWK, Ky. — Investigators are awaiting autopsy results following the death of a Martin County woman.

Kentucky State Police responded to a Tomahawk home Thursday for a report of a suspected overdose. There, they found 22-year-old Brooklyn Sloas unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the cause of death remains under investigation.
When police spoke to the man who reported the incident — Kenneth Shoptaw, 43, of Tomahawk — he reportedly told them he had removed syringes from the scene and tossed them over a hill. He was arrested and charged with a felony count of tampering with physical evidence.
