LOUISA, Ky. – A Lawrence County has been arrested on child sexual exploitation charges, following an investigation by law enforcement agencies across multiple jurisdictions.
Kentucky State Police announced Tuesday’s arrest of Jerod Kelly, 35, of Louisa, in collaboration with the West Virginia Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force and Ashland Police Department.
Kelly is accused of using Facebook and Facebook Messenger to solicit young girls to send him explicit images of themselves. According to the police report, Kelly admitted messaging “dozens (maybe hundreds) of juveniles, soliciting explicit images from them and sharing explicit images of himself.”
The complaint notes West Virginia State Police has a recording of Kelly threatening a girl with violence if she didn’t comply with his demands.
He is now charged with 10 counts of procuring a minor through electronic means, 10 counts of distributing obscene material to minors, and a single count of terroristic threatening.
Police say the arrest follows the execution of a search warrant at Kelly’s home, resulting in the seizure of evidence directly linked to the commission of the crimes.
Kelly is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
