PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man indicted on federal drug charges after being arrested in Johnson County earlier this year has decided to plead guilty.

William Hylton, 39, of Salyersville, was arrested in April along with Kevin Clay, 48, of Staffordsville. During a traffic stop, the men were found in possession of 53 grams of fentanyl and more than $1,800 in cash.

Clay pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges back in August.

For his part, Hylton has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. In a signed plea agreement, he admits to having sold a total of 17 grams of the drug to an undercover informant on two occasions and that he planned to assist Clay in distributing the drugs found by police during the traffic stop.

Hylton now faces between five and 40 years in prison when he is sentenced early next year.
