PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A man arrested for beating another man to death in Floyd County last week has now been indicted for murder and other charges.

A Floyd County grand jury has charged Michael Colley, 41, whose last known address was a homeless shelter in Louisville, with murder and three counts of tampering with physical evidence.

The indictment alleges Colley killed Patrick Shepherd, 53, of McDowell, by repeatedly hitting and kicking him on August 4, then moved Shepherd’s body and tried to get rid of a blood-covered mirror and the clothes he was wearing at the time.

Colley is currently being held in the Floyd County Detention Center on a $5 million cash bond.
