FRANKFORT, Ky. — During his update today on recovery efforts from the flood the state is currently experiencing, Gov. Andy Beshear revealed that the death toll has now risen to 14.
The two latest deaths were a homeless man and woman in Jefferson County who died from exposure. Those are in addition to the deaths of three men in Pike County, one man in Floyd County, a woman and child in Hart County, a woman in Washington County, one man each in Hart, Nelson, Hardin and Clay counties, plus one more death for which no information was given.
The governor also took time to warn Kentuckians of a winter storm that is expected to dump between 2 and 7 inches of snow on the state tonight and tomorrow, followed by overnight temperatures in the teens Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The governor said western Kentucky is expected to receive the worst of the storm, but Pikeville is currently expected to receive between 3 and 6 inches of snow.
