LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Prestonsburg dentist has been arrested assault charges.
Marty Minix, 56, was arrested Tuesday morning by Lexington Police at his office on Harrodsburg Road.
Fayette County jail records indicted he has been charged with first-degree assault in Floyd County.
First-degree assault is a felony which carries a potential prison sentence of 10-to-20 years. Under state law, first-degree assault requires either an attack with a weapon or an attack which places the victim in danger of death.
Little information about the case has been made public because court records in the case currently remain under seal, but that could soon change now that he is in custody.
The case is being investigated by Prestonsburg Police Det. Dennis Hutchinson.
Minix also faces a domestic violence petition and an order to surrender his firearms in Floyd Family Court.
Minix is currently being held in the Fayette County jail, awaiting extradition to Floyd County.
