SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — Two Magoffin County women have been indicted on charges of child abuse.
Destiny Brown, 26, and Melissa Howard, 36, both of Salyersville, are each charged with one count of first-degree abuse of a child younger than 12.
According to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, which is prosecuting the case, between October 2024 and July 2025, both of the women hit the child, withheld food as punishment, and confined the child in a room with no access to food or a bathroom.
The two women each now face a sentence of 10-to-20 years in prison if they are convicted.
Kentucky State Police investigated the case.
