PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two Floyd County residents now await sentencing, after a jury found them guilty of federal gun charges.
Billy Daron Ward and Eloise Ward, both of Bevinsville, were found guilty Tuesday following a two-day trial.
Billy Ward was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm and making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm. The jury determined he lied when he said he had not been convicted of a felony when buying the gun. Both charges carry a potential maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
He was taken into custody following the trial.
Eloise Ward was convicted of making false statements for telling an ATF agent that she had transferred the gun to her son-in-law. She was allowed to remain free pending sentencing and now faces a potential sentence of up to five years in prison.
They will be sentenced Sept. 28.
