GRETHEL, Ky. — A Floyd County man has been indicted on charges related to a 2022 traffic stop, including an allegation that he tried to bribe is way out of trouble.
Luke McKinney, 39, of Grethel, is now charged with DUI, meth possession, fleeing police, bribery of a public servant and numerous traffic violations, following his indictment last week. He was arrested after being pulled over on Route 1426 in January of 2022 and allegedly found with more than 14 grams of meth in his pocket.
The police report accuses him of offering the state trooper who pulled him over the $1,000 that was in his pocket if he just threw the drugs away and didn’t charge him. He allegedly repeated the offer when they arrived at a hospital for a chemical test.
The bribery charge is a felony, punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison.
McKinney is scheduled to appear in court July 24 for arraignment.
