BOYS SOCCER: HAWKS BEAT WILDCATS

Pike Central controlled the pace Saturday afternoon, taking a 2-0 win over Shelby Valley behind a balanced effort on both ends of the field.

The Hawks got on the board with goals from Ayden Hartsock and Zaiden Coleman, while Hayden Owens set up one of the scores with an assist. For Hartsock, it was his first goal of the season, while Coleman notched his third. Owens now has three assists on the year.

In net, Caden Ratliff anchored the defense, turning away three shots to preserve the shutout.

With the win, Pike Central improves to 5-7, while Shelby Valley slips to 1-11. The Hawks will be back on the road tonight at Belfry for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Wildcats also return to action this evening at Paintsville, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
