The Martin County Cardinals picked up a big postseason win Monday night, knocking off Paintsville 72-63 in 15th Region All-A Boys Basketball Tournament action.
Martin County had four players finish in double figures, with Braxton Keathley once again leading the way. Keathley poured in 31 points on an efficient night from the floor, shooting 57.1 percent, and continued to be the driving force for the Cardinals.
Devan Maynard followed with 17 points and led the team on the glass with 10 rebounds. Bryson Dials added 14 points, while Brayden Marcum chipped in 10 to round out the balanced scoring effort.
Keathley now sits at 410 points on the season, averaging 31.5 points per game. That performance has earned him this week’s Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week honors.
Individual statistics for Paintsville were not available on the KHSAA website as of press time.
The win improves Martin County to 8-5 on the season, while Paintsville falls to 6-7. Mountain Top Sports will continue to provide full radio coverage throughout the remainder of the tournament.
