PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Pikeville First Responders were dispatched to an unusual scene Friday as a vehicle smashed through a building.

It happened around 10:30 Friday morning at Velocity Market in Downtown Pikeville. Officials say an elderly woman lost control of her vehicle and drove it though the front of the grocery store.

The collision broke the front window, knocked over a shelf and pushed one register into another. Velocity Market was closed throughout the day while officials worked to clear the scene and clean up debris.

Two people were taken to Pikeville Medical Center as a precaution.

Velocity Market reopened Friday afternoon, and the cashier who was taken to the hospital was back at work.
