BELFRY, Ky. — The staff at Belfry High School is asking for the public’s assistance while trying to implement a backpack program.

The school is starting the program for needy students. This allows faculty and staff to send nonperishable food home with students on Friday. The school would like to start the program with 20 backpacks to give away and then add on as it can.

Organizers say, a lot of the time, the only hot meal some students receive is at the school.
