GARRETT, Ky. — Nearly two weeks after a Floyd County inmate walked away from a work detail, he was recaptured on Monday.
Bill David Barnett, 44, of Langley, was part of a jail crew working at the Beaver Valley Golf Course in Allen on August 23rd, when he walked away from the detail.
Monday night, District 2 Constable Gary Nelson pulled over a truck on Route 80 at Garrett Hill for having no tail lights. A passenger in the truck claimed not to have any identification and gave the officer three different Social Security numbers.
Nelson tells Mountain Top News he thought the passenger might be Barnett, but he couldn’t be sure. So he called in a Wayland Police Officer, who recognized him immediately.
Barnett is now back in the Floyd County Detention Center.
