Felony assault charged in Floyd shooting

A Floyd County man is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly shooting another man.

According to a statement from Kentucky State Police, Stephen Moore, 44, of Garrett, was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly shot another man. According to the statement, the victim, identified as Tyler Ousley, 24, of Martin, contacted KSP just after 3 a.m. Tuesday while en route to seek medical treatment for a gunshot wound.

The statement says a trooper and a detective were dispatched to make contact with Ousley, who had been taken to Pikeville Medical Center. The statement says Ousley suffered a non-life threatening injury, having been shot in the back. His condition, the statement said, was “stable.”

Stephen Moore was charged with first-degree assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The statement says it is unclear at this time what occurred before the shooting, and that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
