SITKA, Ky. — Some Johnson County firefighters came to the aid of an expectant mother who was involved in a crash on Sunday.

The woman was involved in a single-car crash on Route 201 at Sitka around 8 o’clock Sunday morning.

When firefighters from W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue and Flat Gap Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene, the woman was still trapped inside her car. According to a post on the W.R. Castle Facebook page, the firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free her from the car, and then Paintsville EMS transported her to the hospital.

Initial reports are that both mom and baby are OK, but they are continuing to be monitored.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
