PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Troubles continued to mount for a Floyd County man stopped by police Saturday night.
District 2 Constable Gary Nelson had pulled over Wesley Prater, 31, of Gunlock, on what began as a routine traffic stop. However, Nelson discovered that Prater had active warrants for burglary, disorderly conduct and menacing.
But things went from bad to worse for Prater, when he allegedly offered Nelson $100 to let him go. That resulted in an additional charge of bribery of a public servant — a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Prater was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
