Floyd County health officials confirm 2 new COVID-19 cases in the county

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (MTN) — Health officials have confirmed 2 additional positive COVID-19 cases in Floyd County, Kentucky.

According to a Facebook post from the Floyd County Health Department, officials are saying that as of August 3rd, the new total number of cases in Floyd County is 84 with 70 recovered and 12 currently active.

The post continues to say, “We have learned of another Floyd county resident COVID related death of an elderly man who was in the hospital in another county. We offer our condolences to his family.”

Data release regarding ages of cases to date:

  • Under the age of 18 is 7
  • 19-29 yrs. old is 18
  • 30-39 yrs. old is 9
  • 40-50 yrs. old is 14
  • 50-60 yrs. old is 15
  • 60-70 yrs. old is 12
  • 71 and older is 9

Health officials say that many of the cases are related to vacations and family/friend gatherings or from within the same households.
