PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to dealing meth.

Franklin Compton, 51, of Red Creek Road, pleaded guilty to meth trafficking, persistent felony offender and other charges.

He was arrested in October of 2021, after a state trooper found 4 ounces of meth packaged in half-ounce bags, along with smaller amounts of fentanyl and marijuana, during a traffic stop.

Prosecutors originally offered Compton a 15-year sentence in exchange for his plea, with parole eligibility after three years. However, after reviewing arguments and letters of support during his sentencing on Friday, the judge ordered Compton to serve 180 days in the Pike County jail, after which he will be released.

The 15-year sentence will be probated while Compton remains on supervision for five years.
