Floyd man charged with cruelty for throwing cat at camera

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County man arrested for animal cruelty last week reportedly made it easy for police to make a case against him.

Robert Shepherd, 30, of East Point, allegedly picked up a cat and threw it across the room back on Nov. 18. The case was easy to crack, because the cat was thrown at a security camera, which was recording at the time.

Shepherd was arrested on Wednesday, allegedly telling the officer, “I did it and I messed up.”

He is now charged with second-degree cruelty to animals, which is a misdemeanor.
