Four area high schools receive ‘College Success Awards’

Forty-three high schools across Kentucky have received College Success Awards, including four in our region.

Greatschools.org presents the awards to school that excel in preparing students to enroll and succeed in college.

Locally, Pikeville, Betsy Layne, Paintsville and Johnson Central all received awards this year.

This is Johnson Central’s first year to receive the award, while the others have won in previous years. Pikeville has received the award all five years that it has been given out.

“We applaud Kentucky for prioritizing a high-quality public education that puts students on the path to bright futures,” said Jon Deane, CEO of GreatSchools. “It’s inspiring to see how entire school communities – students, teachers and families –can work together in pursuit of a common goal: success for all. Congratulations to these 43 schools for receiving the College Success Award as proof of their hard work and dedication.”
