ABINGDON, Va. — A Wise County man has entered a guilty plea to federal drug and gun charges.

Jamie Lynn Johnson, 45, of Coeburn, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, distributing meth and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug offense.

According to an affidavit from an ATF agent who investigated the case, authorities arranged six undercover buys from Johnson, during which they obtained various quantities of meth ranging from 3 grams to 2 ounces. They also obtained guns, pills and cocaine during the buys.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors have agreed to recommend a prison sentence of between 18 and 20 years. Johnson could have received a life sentence if found guilty without the agreement.

Sentencing has been set for April 3.
