Guilty pleas in Pike-Magoffin meth case grow to five

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Five of the nine people charged with a meth distribution conspiracy in Pike and Magoffin counties have now pleaded guilty.

Lauren Ashley Powell, 22, of Elkhorn City; Emilee Yonts, 34, of Ashcamp; and Charles Doneghy, 32, of Louisville, are the latest to enter guilty pleas. They join Karen Spears, 45, and Lois Spears, 27, both of Pikeville, who pleaded guilty last month.

All of the defendants are accused of being part of a scheme to distribute more than a pound of meth from August of 2018 to September of 2019.

The remaining defendants are scheduled to go on trial July 26.

Ivory Dean, Lonnie Thacker, John Wright and Lona Spradlin are scheduled for trial next month.
