CINCINNATI, Ohio — A former Letcher County teacher who was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison in a child porn case has lost an appeal of the case.

Charles Evans Hall Jr., 50, of Jackhorn, was convicted in 2021 on charges of producing child porn and cyberstalking. A jury determined that Hall groomed one of his students to send him pornographic Snapchat images while he was a middle school teacher. He was also found to have tried to intimidate the girl into destroying evidence.

He was ultimately sentenced to 370 months in prison and ordered to pay the girl more than $114,000 in restitution.

He appealed the case, claiming that the judge should have dismissed the guilty verdict and should not have enhanced his sentencing guidelines.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed and found the judge made no errors in the case.

Hall continues to serve his sentence at FCI Gilmer in Glenville, West Virginia.
