SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A burned-out headlight was all it took for a central Kentucky man and woman to be arrested on drug charges in Magoffin County Sunday night.

A deputy sheriff patrolling Burning Fork Road spotted a car with only one headlight, so he got behind it and followed. After the car turned onto Route 114 toward Prestonsburg, the deputy pulled it over and immediately noticed the scent of marijuana coming from the car.

After speaking to the driver, identified as Enrique Beard, 39, of Lexington, and running his info, the deputy learned he was wanted on a fugitive warrant out of Lexington for fentanyl trafficking, so he was immediately placed under arrest.

He and a K-9 unit then searched the car and found a bag of heroin, a bag of cocaine and a drug pipe outside on the ground, a bag of meth and some loose pills in the front of the car, and a duffel bag containing a variety of drugs and paraphernalia. Beard was additionally charged with trafficking in meth, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and marijuana and several other charges.

A passenger in the car, Brittany Anne Mundy, 39, of Versailles, was also arrested for meth possession and tampering with evidence.

Both were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville.
