HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Panthers king of Class A sports

Pikeville High School is All “A” Classic state baseball champions for the first time in school history following a 10-7 win over Beechwood at Eastern Kentucky University on Sunday afternoon. 

The Panthers join the football and basketball teams as Class A state champions. It marks only the second time in state history a school has won all three titles in the same season. 

Dylan Thompson, Sam Wright, and Jackson Hall had multiple hits and drove in two runs each. Jeb Wilkerson had four hits and Tate Walters added three as Pikeville finished with 16 as a team. 

Brady Clark was the winning pitcher. 

The Panthers advanced to the finals with a 3-1 win over Lyon County earlier in the day.  

Thompson allowed just three hits to earn the win. 

Walters had three hits, including a triple, scored one run and drove in another. Braydn Hall doubled in one run and scored. 

Pikeville opened play at EKU against Glasgow and scored a 4-1 in on Friday. 

Jake Lowe, Noah Jarrell, and Walters had RBIs. Isaac Duty was the winning pitcher.
