HS FOOTBALL: Tug Valley wins final game at historic stadium

Tug Valley quarterback Ethan Varney passed for five touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a 48-19 victory over Mount View in a game played at Vic Nystrom Stadium on Friday night.

It was the final game played at the stadium which first opened in 1952.

Varney passed for 203 yards and ran for 90 as the Panthers snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 4-3.

Running back Zack Savage ran 21 times for 112 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Caleb May hauled in seven passes for 101 yards and three scores. Tanner Kirk and Dustin Balentine each added a TD reception.

The Panthers will host Richwood (2-5) at Bob Brewer Field on Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
