ALLEN, Ky. — A Floyd County man has been arrested for burglary, after police reportedly caught him in the act of stripping a home.

A sheriff’s deputy was called to Railroad Street in Allen over a burglary in progress.\ When the deputy arrived, neighbors told him that the burglar was still inside the home.

The deputy then found Hiram Carroll, 34, of Printer, inside the house and placed him under arrest.

The property owner showed the deputy damages throughout the house which included plumbing and door facings that had been removed, as well as wood that had been removed from closets and stacked against the walls. The damage was estimated to be worth several thousand dollars.

Carroll told police he thought the Job Corps had bought the house and intended to demolish it, so he was collecting items that he planned to use to repair his mother’s home.

He was arrested on a charge of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
