Johnson Central Cruises Past Betsy Layne in 90-62 Win

The Johnson Central Golden Eagles rolled to a 90-62 home victory over Betsy Layne on Monday night.

Johnson Central had four players finish in double figures, led by a big night from Brayden Shepherd. Shepherd poured in 30 points while shooting 61.1 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three-point range and finishing perfect at the free-throw line.

Ethan Cole followed with 20 points, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and an impressive 85.7 percent from beyond the arc. Cooper Blair added 18 points, connecting on 42.9 percent of his shots from the field, 45.5 percent from three-point range and going 1-for-2 at the line.

Kyle Rose rounded out the balanced scoring effort with a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Rose was a perfect 100 percent from the field and went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line.

As a team, Johnson Central controlled the glass with 41 rebounds.

For the Bobcats, two players reached double figures. Jaxon Johnson led the way with 19 points, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three-point range. Ethan Lance recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 72.7 percent from the field while missing his lone three-point attempt and free throw.

Betsy Layne finished with 33 rebounds.

The win improves Johnson Central to 19-5 on the season, while Betsy Layne drops to 6-17.

Johnson Central will return to action today, Feb. 17, hosting the David School at 4:30 p.m. Betsy Layne travels to East Ridge tonight for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
